"One who eats Qi will attain enlightenment and prolong life."
-- Tao Hong Jing (456-536 C.E.)

Elements of understanding sometimes seem lost in translation. This quote may be such an example, but what it attempts to convey is how basic, pervasive, and all-encompassing the concept of qi is to every aspect of life. Read more here.

FREE Qi Gong Classes ~ Mondays, Fall 2016

Welcome to a FREE qi gong class on most Mondays in the Fall of 2016, at 6:30 pm at HS-ACUPUNCTURE.COM at 54 Cumberland St #2, in Brunswick, Maine. Wear comfortable clothes and prepare to cultivate your inner capacity for healing. No experience needed.

In class, we will be doing a series of gentle, healing exercises, specifically called Tai Yu Shen Gong, which come to us from the sacred Hua Shan Mountain in China, as transmitted by Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Daoist Priest of the Jade Purity Tradition.

These are the first nine of three sets of exercises from this alchemical tradition. Intended to restore our innate healing capacities, these exercises enable us to cultivate the interplay between matter and energy, jing and shen, transforming heaviness to lightness, in service of our own health and personal growth.

For more information or questions about the class, feel free to call 266-8633.

TWO UPCOMING TALKS - Save the Dates!

Two talks have been scheduled that will be discussing various aspects of Classical Chinese medicine. Both will be held at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, Maine. They are FREE and open to the public.

Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm - The Meaning of Life

The first talk is entitled "The Meaning of Life from a Daoist Classical Chinese Medical Perspective -- a little philosophy, a little cosmology and how our unique lives can be manifestations of optimal health and endless possibility."

Many people may have heard or had direct experience with acupuncture or Chinese medicine in helping to resolve pain, insomnia, seasonal colds and flus, or digestive complaints -- there are a variety of conditions for which acupuncture offers safe and effective treatment. In addition, the philosophy and cosmology that underlie this medicine can also offer us a greater context in which to live our lives. It is a rich understanding that I am excited to share with a larger audience.

Wednesday, September 28, 2016, from 6:45 pm - Life in Balance

The second talk is "Life in Balance: Lessons from Classical Chinese Medicine"

Stress plays a role in all of our lives, almost unavoidably. Fortunately, Classical Chinese medicine provides a framework for how we can manage these external and internal influences, enabling us to realize contentment and to live a life of purpose. Come learn more about what this ancient wisdom has to offer us in living life in awareness and balance.
